Registration is now closed.
Module 3, which focuses on chart interpretation, practitioner skills and apprenticeship, will run Sept-Dec 2024. It will be open for registration to current and past alums first, and then everyone else if there is still room.
Another round of modules 1, 2 will run in 2025. Contact me to be put on the waiting list.
All cohorts are kept small to ensure a solid container and personalized attention.

Evolutionary Astrology is an astrological modality that illuminates an archeology of the soul. It provides insights into why we’re here and where we’re going.

EA views the natal chart not only as a snapshot of the potentials inherent within you from the moment of birth, but as a way to understand and heal your deepest, most entrenched patterns. Focusing on Pluto and the lunar nodes as a baseline, it provides potent navigation tools for some of the most complex parts of our experiences, while also providing a blueprint for navigating the highs, lows and everyday mundane parts of our lives with more consciousness, confidence and compassion for what it means to be human.

This EA Immersion, now in its fourth year, is an opportunity for a guided tour not just through the cosmos and the methods of EA, but into your own interior world. Inherent within this is the understanding that inner work is inherently connected to what goes on in the external world, and that folks who are wanting to engage their experience with depth deserve support in their journey.

Please scroll down for important information including FAQs with dates, prerequisites and more. If you have questions, please reach out. I’m happy to email or set up a quick zoom or phone chat.
If we have not worked together before and you are interested in taking the course, please reach out to set up a 15 minute call to discuss your interest.

Learning how your own chart lives and breathes through you is a powerful way to engage the world and a fundamental part of practicing astrology at any level.

I stumbled upon EA 13 years ago during my graduate studies in depth psychology. I was studying how apocalyptic imagery affects the psyche and how astrology can help us navigate personal and collective apocalyptic rites of passage.

EA is the first modality I ever encountered that is robust and complex enough to hold how weird my life experiences have been — from the intense highs to the harrowing lows and everything in between. Within it, I felt truly seen, validated and empowered. But more than that: it helped me to understand my place within this historical moment in time.

You can read more about me and my approach elsewhere on this site.

That feeling of being witnessed -- by astrologers and also by the universe -- along with the magic of how astrology and soul-centered psychology work in tandem to create significant life-change has propelled my love affair with this work.

But my approach isn’t just evolutionary. It is also:

  • Psychological: In that you’ll be learning about the logic (logos) of the soul (psyche) as informed by depth and transpersonal psychologies. This is not about pathologizing or navel-gazing. It is about animating your connection with the within and the without, past, present and future.

  • Archetypal: In that you’ll improve your understanding of and connection to the world around you, learning how to work with archetypal (rather than concrete) prediction and embodied presence alongside invitations to incorporate practices and insights from depth psychology, animism, somatic parts work, witchcraft, movement, art, ancestral work and any modalities that you already connect with

  • Queer: In that identities that exist outside the ‘norm’ are welcome and centered; you will be encouraged to center your own intuition, observations and life experience

  • Experiential+PrettyDarnedGrounded: to help you learn astrology that is multidimensional and that ultimately connects body, soul and mind in ways that recognize an interconnected universe

At its best, astrology gives us a cohesive and flexible framework for thinking about and experiencing the world and the truth of the interconnectedness of all things. This course will give you practical skills, insights and inspiration that will be with you for the rest of your life. And you will definitely encounter my love of teaching the material as well.

Lectures last for around 90 minutes and usually include time for questions and tangents. Students will have a month long integration break in May to catch up with material.
Modules 1+2 include more than 42 hours of live classroom time
    +5 hours of pre-recorded lectures

  • Personalized + One on one Support

For some folks, this immersion course touches on tender and sometimes painful memories and emotional material. Others need space to ask personal questions outside of the group, get personalized suggestions or get additional astrology tutoring. Two student-guided one on one sessions with Amanda are included in the tuition to ensure that personal support is part of the experience. Students are also welcome to email Amanda at any time.

  • QA Sessions + Chart Clinics

QAs are meant to be learning labs where students can bring questions about the philosophies of EA, their own charts, charts of historical figures, spiritual practice, witchcraft, or just out loud processings that aren’t quite formed into questions yet. Chart clinics center demonstrations, questions about client charts and the charts of historical figures.

  • Community

Because of their small size and the often intimate nature of what comes up during the course, each EA Immersion cohort is an invitation to community. Students are encouraged to join a Discord channel to facilitate conversation between classes. Additional Zoom hangouts will be scheduled as well, and will include students from past cohorts.

  • Integration Projects

Students are given many opportunities for integration including through writing letters to their classmates as well as a 15 minute presentation at the end of module 2 and a case study presentation at the end of module 3. Past projects have included histories of EA, collages, tattoo design, EA-chart inspired menus, personal history retellings and much more. These projects are not required but are highly recommended.

  • Soul Work

This course benefits from a strong container. As such, students will be led through intention-setting processes, encouraged to set up and altar and daily practice, and more. Opportunities will be provided to engage with the material through music, art, storytelling, guided visualization and experiential work and through noticing the world around us.

  • AstroCircles + ExtraCurriculars

All participants will have access to Amanda’s Patreon offering: monthly AstroCircles in Feb/Mar/Apr/May/June (full listing here) along with options for online social hangs with current and past EA Immersion participants.

  • Additional Teachings + Resources

Amanda tends to plunge into the immersion herself, often sharing personal stories and teachings, podcast episodes she stumbles upon, video clips and more. Students are referred to resources based on their own needs and interests as well.

Who the course is for:

  • Those who are seeking initiation into themselves by way of a depth-oriented astrological practice whether as practitioner or as someone using astrology for personal growth

  • Folks who want to learn how to use the natal chart as a map for understanding the deeper, often invisible layers of the chart and through that some of our more entrenched patterns — and ways of working with them

  • Emerging practitioners who want focused, individualized mentorship and access to feedback about their work (or established practitioners who feel they could benefit from my approach or are switching gears; this is the particular focus of module 3, which will be available as a standalone option)

  • Anyone wanting to bring the EA perspective more fully into their client work

  • Folks who want to prioritize a socially conscious, liberation-based approach to EA

  • **This is not a beginner’s astrology course; students must know their glyphs and have basic knowledge of planets, signs and houses. General astrology basics will not be taught in this course.

  • Testimonials

“I chose to take this course as a way to get to know myself better, and support my personal growth. I am grateful to have done so.

Amanda holds space beautifully, and teaches in a mindful, transparent, and compassionate way. Her knowledge and experience with the material and with clients, along with her humor, sensitivity, and care made for a wonderful journey. This course has been enlightening and empowering, and it feels like it has only just begun. I recommend this EA Immersion series to folks interested in seeing how deep astrology can take you - the dark and the light.. psychologically, emotionally, physically, and spiritually, and in learning what your soul's journey is in this lifetime.“

  • Testimonials

“Working through your EA Immersion was such a rich experience even though I’m not an EA astrologer. I learned so much about myself and also deepened my experience of space holding for difficult topics. I treasure my time swimming in the deep end of Evolutionary Astrology! 10/10 definitely recommend!”

  • Testimonials

“You will receive so many gifts by engaging with this course. Plan to make time for processing outside of class. The daily practice is essential for staying grounded. Study! And most importantly, the opportunities for growth and empowerment throughout this course are infinite if you are open to it.”

  • Testimonials

“You will learn so much about yourself throughout this course. I came in knowing it would be a wild ride but I didn’t realize just how life changing that ride would be. It is worth noting that this course coincided with a hefty eclipse window that was super activating in a lot of our charts and I know actively working with Pluto/shadow material during this time helped me to unlock, explore and process some karmic residue that I otherwise would not have been equipped to deal with and for that I am so grateful. Simply put, this course will change your life.”

  • Testimonials

“I want future students to know that they’re probably going to experience a serious transformation while taking this course, and that it’ll be one of the best decisions of their lives. This immersion felt like a spiritual initiation. It’s the only word that seems to fit after some pondering. The level of growth and awareness that came from it is like nothing I’ve experienced, and I say that with a decade plus of therapy and multiple plant medicine journeys under my belt. Buckle up bbs!”

  • Testimonials

“Amanda's Evolutionary Astrology Intensive was exactly what I was looking for to expand my knowledge of astrology and take the next step in my personal journey/path. I'd taken Amanda's Introduction to Personal Astrology at a local community college and really enjoyed her teaching style, so decided to take this course. She brings the content together in a way that's easy to understand and I really appreciate her ability to listen and respond thoughtfully to her students' questions. I am so glad I found her and her courses. I'd highly recommend this class because you will grow as a student and practitioner of astrology.”

  • Although beginners are welcome, participants in this course do best when they have basic familiarity with planets, signs and houses — specifically including the ability to recognize planetary and zodiacal glyphs.

This class will not go over the basis of planets, signs and houses and assumes that all participants are able to look at a circular astrology chart and know what they are seeing (even if you can’t interpret it).

For folks who want to participate for the purpose of personal growth, I have some leeway and am open to chatting about how you can prepare.

For folks who already know they want to pursue astrology pt a professional level, I recommend taking some basics courses or reading (like the one I’m offering January 31), memorize glyphs, and then circle back.

If you are uncertain whether you’ll be prepared for the course, please reach out to chat about it.

  • Registration for modules 1+2 is open January 25-February 15.

If you have worked with Amanda before, you are welcome to register. If you have not, please reach out prior to registering to schedule a 15 minute call to confirm it is a good fit.

    You can register here.

  • Modules 1+2(sold together, registration opens January 25): $900
Module 3 (registration opens in July): $555

  • I do!

Payment plans: You will be asked to sign a contract and keep a card on file for automatic processing. A $250 deposit is required when you register. The remainder will be divided into payments due the 20th of Feb, Mar, Apr + May.

Members of my Patreon (anyone signed up before Feb 1) at the $5 level and above will receive a code for 10% off.

I am offering one sliding scale ($240-900) spot for a Black and/or Indigenous individual. A payment plan will be available. Please contact me and include a description of your interest in the course as well as what you hope to do with what you learn. If I don’t know you, please confirm that you meet the prerequisites. 4 paragraphs max.

I am offering one sliding scale ($600-900) spot for folks experiencing financial hardship. A payment plan will be available. Please contact me to include a description of your interest in the course as well as what you hope to do with what you learn. If I don’t know you, please confirm that you meet the prerequisites. 4 paragraphs max.

  • After the first 48 hours have passed, all sales are final.

If something significant comes up before February 15 and you need to back out of the class before it starts, I will refund your payment if the course is full and I am able to fill your spot. After February 15 no refunds will be given but you will receive access to the recordings of the course.

  • Although I understand that folks won’t be able to attend every class, this course is not meant to be taken by recording and so participants should aim to be present at most classes.

This immersion relies on the container created by the group, and involves personal check-ins, processing, working with student charts and more. Presence is important, and personal processing check-ins are only recorded with the group’s consent. Demonstrations (module 3) are not recorded and only available to be viewed during class time.

I might release a self-paced version at some point, but for now I value real time participation.

I also understand, however, that time zones are tricky. If you are unable to attend the lectures, but are able to attend QA sessions and the workshops, please feel free to reach out to me so we can chat about whether or not it's a good fit.

  • If you decide to take module 3, which is meant as an apprenticeship-style experience in which you will develop practitioner skills and familiarity with chart interpretation, that module will be available for purchase in July 2024 for $555 ($500 for Patrons).

    Other than that, no.

I will suggest specific books as companions (nothing out of print).

I also encourage folks to have a natal chart reading with an EA practitioner prior to the course.

But neither of these are required.

Sometimes folks opt for additional one on one sessions with me. These are offered at the regular sliding scale rate of $100-140/50 minute session.

  • In short: no.

    But.

I highly encourage folks to participate as much as they are able, including homework and other assignments. Because these assignments exist to help you integrate the (at times dense) information you will be taking in.

I will not, however, ever shame you or question whether or not you do assignments. Instead, I will try to give you the reasons why I give the assignments I do.

  • You don’t.

    BUT!

I will highly encourage you to participate. Integration projects are meant to help you…well...integrate what you have learned! They can be as formal or informal as you want them to be.

Students have found integration projects days to be a kind of grand finale and celebration and we’ll talk a ton beforehand about why they’re important and different ways of approaching them.

If you check out the “immersion” highlight on my Instagram page you can see a selection of different projects people have done.

  • At this point, my version of EA — a form of modern, psychological and spiritual astrology — is very much my own synthesis of many teachings I have received as well as my own spiritual practice and life experiences. (Read more about me here. )

However, my biggest influences and therefore the lineage I am a part of includes the work of Patricia Walsh (astrology, understanding karmic complexes, past life regression work and experiential work, significant apprenticeship and one on one work) and Mark Jones (the therapeutic potential of astrology, trauma signatures in the chart, 2 year psychosynthesis coaching training and years of one on one work), both of whom studied with Jeffrey Wolf Green.

I studied with Steven Forrest for many years as well, so i really do blend the JWG tradition with Steven's heart-centered approach.

You'll also find components that are informed by my own inner work and depth psychological background, my dedication to keeping social consciousness and social justice central to the work I do, somatic embodiment work as well as archetypal astrology a la Richard Tarnas.

I believe that evolutionary astrology needs some updates when it comes to anti-oppression frameworks and inclusivity and do my best to center that while encouraging folks to contribute to those changes in their own work as well.

  • To some extent, yes.

Not because I require you to read books or articles - those are optional. I will suggest many, and you have a choice about whether or not you read them.

But! I do tend to communicate about the course through email and written messages — including things like a syllabus. The information contained in those messages is valid and important regardless of whether you read it. That includes information about assignments, deadlines, scheduling, etc.

  • All charts will be cast using Porphyry, and I ask that you use Porphyry for the duration of the class. I’ll go into the whys of that. If you end up feeling certain that you need to use another house system, that’s fine.

  • I think that’ll make you very well equipped to get a lot out of this course!

Students who have taken the Immersion after studying Hellenistic astrology most commonly talk about ways EA helps them to see “the chart behind the chart” and speaks to parts of their experiences that they haven’t been able to grapple with in other systems.

Switching between perspectives and systems can require a level of philosophical and technical flexibility, but I find that blending techniques tends to strengthen practice.

  • You sure don’t!

Some folks take the class from a fascination standpoint: they want to better understand the techniques and are interested in the more heady perspectives.

Some folks are purposely taking the course because they want to understand more about their emotional nature. Others aren’t anticipating learning at that level, but do.

Yet others go through the course once and then decide to return to audit a future session, at which point they feel more equipped to really dig into emotional content.

The nature of EA is often a catalyst for new insights that sometimes touch on emotional experiences. Furthermore, EA often brings up memories from more difficult parts of life.

You will always be encouraged to observe and respect your own boundaries and insights. Resources for navigating what comes up are provided and referrals can be made as necessary.

  • Sometimes students share quite a bit about their personal lives throughout the course.

Although recordings will be available, I request that none of them are shared outside of the group. Students are asked to either listen to sessions in private settings or use earbuds so that no one else can hear.

Additionally, you can request that the recording be paused while you share.

Student natal charts will be stored in a folder visible by everyone in the class.

We’ll take about confidentiality at length at the first class.

  • EA is a vast system that includes techniques that go beyond the scope of this class (phasal relationships, synastry, etc.).

This primary goal of this course is to help you get to know yourself through your chart. As a bonus, it will help you understand astrology in generaluand the world around you.

The course will set you up with a strong command of the zodiacal and planetary archetypes through the EA lens, the core of the EA method and chart interpretation and synthesis based on those things.

The EA paradigm, however, is truly vast and therefore we cant cover everything.

I often offer extra courses to cover more advanced techniques and am happy to provide referrals.

  • First things first, I LOVE TEACHING THIS COURSE! More than I can say. I am uber passionate about the topic, and it is my greatest honor to be able to guide other folks through these teachings and into greater connection with themselves.

I have been teaching astrology for ten years. In short, my approach tends to give you a lot of different options for engaging the material. Adult student learning means that I respect your ability to decide what is best for you. I will give you the reasons behind assignments and why I think they will help, but you get to make decisions about how and what you engage.

It is probably important to note that I do use a lot of text based communication between classes, and expect students to take the time to read those messages.

My approach is very participatory and student-based. What tends to work best for me as well as my students involves teaching in layers with lots of time for Q/A, out loud processing and discussion.

My goal is to try to engage students in whatever ways work best for them, so that I’m not just spouting off information at you, but incorporating your imagination, personal experiences, body memory, emotions and more into the mix.

Our personal and shared experiences are the most relevant teaching tool we have.

I see each individual class as its own ritual, and will invite you to incorporate ritual and other forms of spiritual practice into the mix as well. I will use lectures, experiential exercises and guided imagery, questions for reflection, discussions, letters to classmates and more to invite you to engage with the work.

Homework will be provided and highly encouraged but not required (with a few exceptions).

I tend to refer my students back in to their own inner knowing and processes quite a bit. This is mostly to underscore the importance of you relying on your inner truth and power for guidance. You’ll often find that you have the answer for something within yourself. But after we’ve gone through that process, I’m happy to ramble a bit about how I relate to the question or concept, too!

To get a feel for my style, you can access any of many free recorded webinars I’ve done here: https://aquarianspirals.com/videosAnd my podcast is here: anchor.fm/aquarianspirals

  • 1.) Required: Access to Zoom, Dropbox, Google Classroom. Encouraged: Access to Discord.

2.) A commitment to showing up and learning the material, engaging with curiosity and openness, and being willing to dig a little deeper than you normally would

3.)Although I do understand the need to potentially miss a class or two, this class is not meant to be taken only through the recordings and is reliant on your participation for both container building and because your engagement helps shape the lessons. This is particularly true for the QA sessions and the workshops at the end of the course, which are based on your participation. Your questions, comments and ponderings are always welcome - your engagement with the course is directly linked to how much you will get out of it!

4.) In addition to lecture and workshop/QA time, you will likely need at least two hours per week for self-study and reflection practices (a minimum of 20 minutes most days is optimal as I will be highly encouraging a daily practice).

5.) Space in your home for an altar or a place that is devoted to reflection, journaling and other forms of grounding and self-work.

  • Nope!

Our discussions will include alternate frameworks and ways of relating to course material. Past students have included skeptics, atheists and non-believers. All have gotten a ton out of the course (and some even changed their minds!).

Commitment to Safer Spaces

Amanda is does her best to create spaces where folks feel more comfortable being and exploring themselves. All participants in the EA Immersion have a responsibility to treat each other with respect and will be invited to consider class agreements at the first meeting.

The course will include resources for anti-oppression work as a fundamental part of ethical personal and professional astrological practice and will include lessons about ethics in modules 2 + 3. Racist, homophobic, transphobic, antisemitic, misogynistic, fatphobic, ableist and other oppressive actions and language will be addressed compassionately and with strong boundaries. Folks might be called in to discuss harm if needed. We are all learning.

Amanda respects each individual’s right to self-determination.

Because EA can get into personal and sensitive territory, there are times when difficult subjects come up in class either through the stories of students or historical figures who’s charts we will work with. Content warnings will be used as much as possible.

Students are encouraged to do what they need to take care of themselves including speaking up or stepping out. All classes and activities are offered as invitations; nothing is required.

Amanda is a queer, fat, definitely not monogamous, mixed race person of color who deals with chronic illness and who’d probably be dubbed “leftist” these days. In her view, it is impossible for healing work to be apolitical because most of what is referred to as “politics” is actually about human rights.

Because her work is about collective liberation, because she is a community based practitioner who’s communities include marginalized folks, and because marginalized bodies are more significantly impacted by world events, it is impossible to leave those world events out of the course in general.

Political discussions are not included as part of the curriculum, but because any of the many significant shifts/atrocities/collapses/changes that go on in the outer world impact us and affect the ways we show up for each other and the things we process in class, we make space for acknowledging that impact if needed.

If you have questions or concerns about any of this, please feel free to contact me.
